Why A Guide?
One might not think of a television guide channel as innovative or new. But each day, millions of hotel-room guests go without one. The reasons for this are simple... money and technology. Satellite services are able to supply TV programming to hotels for a significant savings over cable. With satellite, hotels can choose only the channels they want. A typical 200-room hotel can save nearly $100,000 over ten years.
When a hotel is converted to satellite from cable, a rack of satellite receivers is installed. Each receiver is tuned to a different satellite channel. Both the video and audio from each of the receivers are then combined onto one coaxial cable, and distributed to all hotel guest-room TVs. This type of system is known as a SMATV system (Satellite Master Antenna Television).
In this system, any satellite channel can be placed on any hotel TV channel number. This means that one hotel may have Discovery Channel on channel 10 and another hotel next door may have it on channel 15. While satellite offers a guide for all of their channels, it doesn’t compensate for each hotel's different channel lineup. HoteleGuide has bridged that gap. Our technology allows not only for each hotel's specific channel lineup, it's custom-made for each hotel!
